Dalaan Nepal organized a community dialogue event titled “Chabutra Ke Sambad” in Laxminiya Rural Municipality Ward No. 1. The event was initiated by the single women team leader herself, showing strong local ownership and leadership. During the program, single women openly shared their challenges, including issues related to access to services, economic hardship, and lack of recognition. They also expressed their specific needs and demanded support from both ward and municipal-level authorities. A total of 30 participants, including single women, ward representatives, and stakeholders, took part in the discussion. The event served as a platform to bridge the gap between the community and local government. It highlighted the importance of inclusive governance and accountability in addressing the concerns of marginalized groups.
20 December 2024-In Laxminiya Rural Municipality Ward No. 5, the single women team leader is actively taking initiative to lead a social rights campaign for single women. With a total of 35 dedicated single women leaders—five from each of the seven wards—they are collectively advocating for their rights and meaningful participation in local governance. These team leaders are now more confident and vocal in addressing the challenges faced by single women in their communities. Their efforts are part of the project Inclusive Governance for Single Women’s Social Rights, which is being implemented by Dalaan Nepal. The project is supported by USAID CSM and The Asia Foundation. Through capacity-building, dialogue sessions, and engagement with local government, the leaders are working to ensure their voices are heard and their issues prioritized. This initiative is creating a strong platform for empowerment, inclusion, and accountability at the grassroots level.
Dalaan Nepal successfully concluded a 16-day campaign against gender-based violence at B.P. Koirala Secondary School, Sapahi, Dhanusha. Focused on the theme “Good Touch and Bad Touch,” the campaign raised awareness among students of grades 6, 7, and 8, as well as teachers and community members. Initiated under the Inclusive Governance for the Social Rights of Single Women project—supported by USAID, Civil Society Media, and The Asia Foundation—the program aimed to educate children on safety and vigilance against abuse. The campaign also reinforced Dalaan Nepal’s broader mission of empowering single women, women, and widows through inclusive governance. With active participation from children and teachers, the initiative had a positive impact on the school and surrounding community. Implemented across all seven wards of Laxminiya Rural Municipality, the campaign has added strong momentum to Dalaan Nepal’s long-term goals. It laid the foundation for greater community awareness and safer environments for children.
